We could never extrapolate that we will have to be imprisoned within our houses after Coronavirus was declared a global pandemic by World Health Organisation and that went on for months and years. Covid-19 has not only changed the meaning of life but also put our lives upside down. The concept of working from home became imperative, education and academic schools started classes online, and we saw the world through a completely new lens. This confinement left us with no option but helped us explore some hidden sides of our lives. Some explored that hidden master chef. While some of us had this opportunity, others risked the safety of their lives to save our lives. And our lives will always be in the debt of those. COVID warriors. This invincible virus has indeed given us a lesson from all walks of life.

WHAT WE LOST VS WHAT WE GAINED

It goes without saying that Covid has undeniably impacted our personal and Social Lives. Millions of innocent lives were sacrificed in its claw and the Economic infrastructure was completely ruptured. This is true that the damage caused by Covid can never be repaired. But can we deny the fact that before Covid thrashed our life, the rat race of the fast-moving interconnected world had also trapped us badly? Can we deny, this pandemic was nothing but an eye-opener for all of us to slow down a bit and discover the bonding with our family that was missing, we also tried our hands-on things that we never got time to do and most importantly, we realized the actual meaning of that much-heard proverb ‘Health Is Wealth’ which taught us the value of staying fit and healthy.
We noticed, some people being Covid positive have immensely suffered and grappled with death with life-threatening complications, while others had only the symptoms with mild effects. But why?? It takes only one word to explain it – ‘Immunity’. Yes, immunity has played its master stroke to combat Covid. We learned to include a healthy routine to boost our immunity. How they work, here it goes….

HAVE AN IMPROVED DIET

Overall health and immunity are determined by the food we eat. Generally, low-carb foods, help us control high blood pressure and sugar. Low-carb food is auxiliary to cut down diabetes from our life and helps you stay in the right shape with a protein-rich diet. And regular intakes of some fruits and vegetables are rich in Beta carotene. Some special foods like tomatoes, mushrooms, bell pepper and vegetables like spinach and broccoli are great ways to build the power to combat infections in our body. But in case you don’t prefer going to the market frequently, then through supplements Omega 3 & 6 fatty acids can be taken. Some effective natural immunity boosters are known to be gooseberries (Amla), ginger, and turmeric. Some of the herbs several herbs are capable of boosting immunity which is known as garlic, Basel leaves and Black cumin. It is said that Yogurt and fermented food are unbelievable sources to enhance the composition of gut bacteria, these foods are treated very effectively for the geriatric people too.

HAVE A GOOD NIGHT’S SLEEP

A minimum of 7 to 8 hours of sleep is the safest way to build immunity for our body. Insufficient sleep makes us feel tired and affects our brain activities. It also prevents our body from getting proper rest and disturbs our body functions which directly leaves a bad impact on body immunity.

ALWAYS KEEP OURSELVES HYDRATED.

Daily a minimum of 2 to 3 litres of water has to be drunk to keep our body hydrated. Hydration activates the process of taking out toxins from the body and minimizes the chances of flu. Besides drinking water, juices made of citrus fruits and coconut water, are great options to beat the heat.

EXERCISE IS A MUST

No good diet can work well unless we take good exercise. Regular exercise not only improves our physical health but also our mental health. Therefore, remember to exercise every day without fail. In case we cannot take a strenuous exercise, a light exercise is fine. Because even a light exercise can enable the process of taking out the toxins from our body. Therefore, 30 to 45 minutes of regular exercise is highly recommended (according to body capacity). If you are still going through procrastination, then you are surely in the trap of indolence. We can try a lot of easy home exercises that are readily available online. Regular exercise enhances metabolism, which is very important for our body’s immunity.

TIME TO KEEP OUR MINDS WORRY-FREE

A prolonged period of confinement naturally affects the mental health of a person. It increases the anxiety in many folds and that is a serious concern. Millions of people around the world suffering from high-stress levels due to this pandemic. High stress leaves an adverse effect on immunity. There are some good ways we can easily relieve stress.
